Thick sticky brown molasses which is the by-product of sugar extraction is used in the preparation and forms the basis of the Rum. The molasses is fermented and is then distilled in stills. As a special feature the company uses the distillation process for the continuous distribution of strong alcohol to create a soft and round Rum. Once the burning process is complete the Ron Barcelo Blanco Rum is stored for up to 12 months in American oak barrels where it forms its unique character. Before the final filling in the proper Ron Barcelo style bottle the Rum is then diluted with filtered water to its perfect drinking strength.
