Mack by Mackmyra Swedish Single Malt Whisky 0,7 l

Even though Sweden is not a country that is renowned for a huge whisky culture, it is still possible to encounter great single malts from this Scandinavian nation. The relatively young Mackmyra Distillery for instance produces various spirits but mainly whiskies. Among others the Mack by Mackmyra is part of the product range.

This Swedish single malt aged in ex-bourbon casks and has a light and fruity aroma that shows nuances of vanilla, citrus, pears and oak. Furthermore, notes of aniseed and mint add an interesting touch. On the palate the dram stays fruity and offers the taste of fresh citrus, vanilla, oak and pears again. The flavours are accompanied by an enjoyable spiciness. The finish has a medium length and shows a spiciness as well as slightly salty traces.

The Mackmyra Mack is a relatively new product on the market. It was launched in October 2015 and the company wants to address the younger generation of whisky enthusiasts. Maybe it is the fresh and easy drinking character of the whisky, which could suggest that especially the younger audience would love this single malt.

But there is a good chance that the older generation would enjoy likewise. This single malt can be savoured pure and on the rocks but could constitute an ingredient in high standard cocktails as well.

The Mackmyra Distillery is still a young company compared to some of its Scottish siblings. All began in 1998, when a group of eight friends went on a skiing trip. They discovered their common weakness for single malts and wondered why there is no Swedish whisky on the market.

In 1999, just one year later, the first Mackmyra distillery was set up and the production of spirit started. With it the history of Swedish whisky was initiated as well. Ever since hundreds of recipes were tried and the best were chosen to constitute the Mackmyra range.
