Close to the natural spring of Josie’s Well a distillery called Glenlivet is to be found. The pure water comes from the mountains and passed through layers of granite and limestone. It is a very important, basic ingredient for the production of Whisky and thus a key factor for creating excellent Single Malts like the Glenlivet Nàdurra First Fill Selection Bourbon Cask.

This dram has a pleasantly full and fresh aroma of floral notes, vanilla, butterscotch, citrus, a bit coconut and some raisins. While it shows a quite mild character on the nose, the impact on the palate is more powerful. Flavours of hazelnut, ginger and even a hint of almonds lead to a slightly bitter and spicy impression. But on the other hand, especially with a drop of water, gentle hints of citrus and floral notes build an excellent counterpart. The finish consists of spicy notes like ginger and oak. The bitterness abates quite fast and leaves more space for the sweeter nuances.

Now and then the Glenlivet Distillery launches batches of different Nàdurra whiskies. The word Nàdurra is Gealic and means natural. It was chosen to point out the traditional methods applied to produce this special range. All of them are not chill-filtered and bottled at cask strength. Usually those Single Malts are available just for a limited period. Each has a very own character due to the maturation in only one kind of cask.

The Glenlivet Nàdurra First Fill Selection Bourbon Cask is a Scotch that aged exclusively in ex-bourbon casks, which are made of American white oak. This wood is typically giving light and sweet flavours of vanilla. Bottled at cask strength means that this Speyside Whisky has powerful 63.1 % ABV.
