Gin is a generally clear white light-bodied grain spirit with a typically intense blue-green juniper berry taste. The name "Gin" is derived from the Dutch "Gin" for juniper and dates all the way back to the 16th century. With the transition to the Victorian era in the mid-19th century, the reputation of Gin changed for the better. The tough yet sweet Old Tom Gin, which was burned in the early 1700s, gave way to the new dry "Dry Gin" competition.

The extraordinary Gansloser Black Gin appeared on the market in 2010. The vintage Gin is produced in the Swabian Alb in the traditional Gansloser distillery. The world-famous distillery which was founded in 1905 is currently managed by the third generation of distillers Holger Frey. In addition to the Gin the distillery also has other premium spirits like vodka, some liqueurs and brandies in their product range.

The Gansloser Black Gin is produced in a twelve-fold and very expensive distillation process which creates a completely pure and crystal-clear Gin. What makes the distillation process is the use of an incredibly high number of 74 botanicals from 19 different countries. They include botanicals such as coriander, clove, juniper berry, chamomile, ginger, bay leaves, lemon, orange, vanilla and cinnamon from regions such as the Alpine region, India, Spain, Italy, Romania, and Madagascar. The high-quality Gin is only produced three times a year and off course this exclusivity makes the specialty Gin even more sought-after. The waiting period for replenishment of this limited edition Gin is apparently on year.
