The taste is composed of vanilla, floral and grassy notes, a slight sourness and maize flavours. The finish has about medium length and shows light, sweet floral notes.
The Canadian Club 6 Year Old is probably the most famous whisky from Canada. It is sold in more than 150 countries around the world. For some whisky enthusiasts it is a fantastic sipping blend and for others it is the perfect ingredient for high standard cocktails. Either way, this blended whisky is a good choice. Its character was formed during the different stages of production.
At Canadian Club, they use maize, barley malt, rye and rye malt. The different spirits are blended right after distillation so that they have all the time of maturation to marry. Thus, after six years of ageing the different distillates have become one whisky and one unique character.
The Canadian Club Distillery was founded by Hiram Walker in 1858. It was operated in Walkerville, Ontario. Walker was a grain merchant and so he knew where to get the best crop. The whisky became well known and was served mainly in finer clubs. Therefore, it was commonly called the club whisky.
When the government of the United States of America decided that on all whiskies from Canada the country of production has to be stated, the name Canadian Club was established.
