The Famous Grouse smoky black Whisky scores with its full-bodied, strong taste. An absolute must for every lover of smoky Whisky
The Famous Grouse smoky black Whisky presents its strong, smoky flavor on the nose. On opening a bottle of this interesting Famous Grouse Whisky an already ample, soft and balanced aroma of creamy Heather honey, dry malt and a hint of iodine escapes. Definitely a harmony of feelings which stimulates taste.
The taste of the dark, russet-golden colored smoky black spicy Whisky is exactly how it should be, smoky. Dried fruit, vanilla beans, and various spices unfold in the mouth, coupled with the nuances of malt, sweet liquorice and hay. The honey resonates again and gives a lovely touch to this intense and strong Whisky.
This fine, sweet nuance is responsible for a soft, relatively long finish of the deep Famous Grouse smoky black Whisky and replicates its smoky flavor again.
In 1896 a wine and spirits merchant Matthew Gloag created his first Whisky within the region of Perthshire in Scotland and named it after the Scottish bird "Grouse" which means as much as "Moorhuhn" in German. Matthew Gloag was born into the trade and generations of Gloags have worked hand in hand with expert distillery employees and still adhere to Matthew Gloags original principles of quality and integrity.
Why the unusual name? Well, either Mr. Gloag was a funny bird or his close ties to Scotland had lead him to this choice of name.
After a short time this quality blended Whisky gained a certain degree of popularity in Scotland. Matthew Gloag added the name of "Famous" to the title which we believe sounded successful and appealing in 1905. "The Famous Grouse" was thus born and received full attention from large distilleries.
In 1970 Highland distillers Ltd. eventually took over the small distillery and henceforth took care of the production of this unique Famous Grouse smoky black Whisky. Its national and international reputation, the financial possibilities and of course the excellent know-how of Highland provided for a steady, economic ascent of the distillery. The best grain possible, pure Scottish water and seasoned bourbon and sherry casks all contribute to the creating of this sought-after Whisky. More than 43 million bottles are sold annually across 94 countries. Matthew Gloag signature proudly adorns each bottle. The distillery forests most of its wood for casks, from planting saplings, milling and building of the casks.
The wonderful Famous Grouse Smoky Black Whisky is the only blend in the world that uses the finest barley available that has been dried over peat and is then crafted in the traditional way.
The rich and full Famous Grouse Smoky Black Whisky at times was the most popular and best-selling Whisky in Scotland and is known today by every friend and lover of a smoky Whisky.
