The Glenfiddich Select Cask single malt whisky combines the best from bourbon, European oak and red wine casks
Originally the Glenfiddich Select Cask single malt Scotch was launched exclusively for the travel value. It is another creation from the Malt Master Brian Kinsman, who replaced David Stewart in 2009.
This expression has a flavoursome smell that is constructed of vanilla, floral notes, toffee, a little citrus and some American oak of the bourbon casks. On the palate it shows the soft, malty oak aroma, which is quite characteristic of Glenfiddich. In addition, fruity notes of red berries, lime juice and a hint of orange are to be found as well. The finish is smooth, sweet and well balanced.
The Glenfiddich Select Cask is a delicious Speyside whisky that had the chance to mature in three different kinds of casks.
Brian Kinsman decided to use aged bourbon casks, European oak casks and red wine casks in order to create a deep and complex character.
After he picked the best malts from these three maturing backgrounds, they have the time to become one while being kept in a hand-crafted Solera vat. Those Solera vats are made of Oregon pine.
After leaving the malt for a while in those barrels, at most half of their content is bottled and then they get filled up again.
The Glenfiddich Distillery is located in Dufftown, a small village in the north-east of the Scottish Highlands. The company was founded by William Grant in 1886 and is the only single malt producing distillery that is still run by its founder family.
The name Glenfiddich is Scottish Gaelic and means Valley of the deer. So, especially the deer of Glenfiddich is very well known around the world. It represents the most awarded single malt producing company in the world. Furthermore, the Glenfiddich 12 Year Old is the worlds best-selling single malt.
The Glenfiddich Select Cask is part of the Cask Collection. So far it contains beside the Select Cask the Glenfiddich Reserve Cask.
