Finlaggan Eilean Mor single malt Whisky proves class by sweet peat smoke, slight oiliness and an endless finish
No other country in this world is as famous as Scotland is for its outstanding Whisky. The perfect geographical location with different seasons, high temperature differences and the proximity to the coast and the sea are the ideal properties for making exquisite distillates.
One of these excellent products is the 2015 release Finlaggan Eilean Mor, a bright shining single malt Whisky. Finlaggan is a trademark of the Scottish island of Islay. The individual touch of Islay Whiskys comes to fruition with this superb scotch and feels completely rounded.
The aroma of the higher strength Finlaggan Eilean Mor single malt Whisky is defined by a slightly sweet peat smoke which brings memories of medical products to the fore. As for a typical Island-Scotch, a pinch of sea salt resonates without being obtrusive.
The flair of the Finlaggan master distiller gives this sought-after single malt a beautiful luscious full body. The dry peat smoke is transformed in the mouth with a touch of sweetness, spiciness and iodine salt on top. The interesting taste of hot tar is refined by the aroma of lovely sweet malt. An intense taste with such perfection is rarely tasted by connoisseurs and is a genuine must-have in a serious Whisky collection and should be present in every high-end bar and restaurant.
The finish of the Finlaggan is flawless, seems endlessly long and ends with light smoke. This Finlaggan Eilean Mor single Whisky should ideally be enjoyed pure and at room temperature. You can also consume the Whisky on the rocks as well as in a favorite long drink.
The full-bodied Finlaggan Eilean Mor single malt received its name as a result of a large lake on the island of Islay. There are three smaller islands of which one is called Eilean Mor within this Lake. This whole area is of great importance in the Scottish history as it was the seat of the Lords of the Isles and of Clan Donald as well as the administrative center for the Lordship during the 13th to 15th centuries. The Finlaggan Trust maintains the site and refurbished a cottage which is now a museum and all visitors are welcome for a small contribution.
Due to the interconnectedness of the distillery with Scotland, the Isle of Islay and of course the immediate surroundings, the name Finlaggan Eilean Mor was given in dedication.
In conclusion, the well-balanced Finlaggan Eilean Mor single malt Whisky is the perfect Scottish Whisky for every lover of single malts with smoke, slightly salty nuances and malted sounds. This Finlaggan Eilean Mor single malt Whisky is ideal for romantic cozy evenings by the fireplace.
