The Aberfeldy 12 Year Old is a single malt Scotch from the Highlands, where it was created by John Dewar & Sons
This single malt whisky comes from the Scottish Highlands. The Aberfeldy Distillery is located in the village Aberfeldy, where it uses the water of the Pitilie Burn to create fantastic single malts.
The Aberfeldy 12 Year Old flatters the nose with fruity notes of pineapple, pears and green apple. Furthermore, it shows the malted barley and just a tiny whiff of smoke while it is very aromatic, smooth and light.
On the palate the dram is overwhelmingly soft, oily and quaffable. The taste reminds of honey, syrup, green apples and some sweet spices. Interestingly, towards the end, the malt is turning slightly into more spicy notes.
But the pepper combines perfectly with the honey sweetness and nuances of grapefruit. The finish has a medium length.
The Aberfeldy 12 Year Old is delectable Speyside whisky with a smooth, full and very aromatic character. Because of its sublime flavours it is used in the blending industry as well.
The Aberfeldy whisky is an important part in the production of the Dewars White Label. The single malt matures in ex-bourbon casks. They are made of American white oak and lead generally to a smooth, fresh and slightly sweet character.
The Aberfeldy Distillery was built by John Dewar & Sons in 1896 and started its production two years later. But it was not the first time that whisky was produced on that ground. Between 1825 and 1867 Alexander McLean was running a distillery but in the end his business did not survive.
Today Barcadi is the owner of the Aberfeldy Distillery. Furthermore, the distillery is home of the Dewars World of Whisky, which serves quasi as a visitor centre. Thus, Aberfeldy is not just a fundamental ingredient for the Dewars White Label but also giving a face to the friends of Dewars products.
