Mount Gay Eclipse Barbados Rum 1 l
The well-know and popular Mount Gay Eclipse Rum from Barbados stands strong with its fruity floral and tart spicy flavors, an excellent balance between age and modernity
In the full nose of the brown Mount Gay Eclipse Rum it discloses balanced sweet vanilla notes that mingle with creamy caramel and sugary molasses. Fruity banana and tangy apricot, as well as more exotic flavors penetrate gradually and spray a Caribbean dream island flair. On the palate you will first enjoy flowery overtones that clearly ally themselves with bitter oak and are negotiated with smoky tones and a touch of tobacco. Over time sweet and fruity aromas penetrate and underscore the complexity of amber tips. Of course, the Mount Gay Eclipse Rum tastes great with an ice cold cola or exotic cocktails and long drinks, but the Rum should also be tasted pure in order to enjoy the complex flavors.
Barbados is home to the Mount Gay Rum. Rumor has it that the Mount Gay Rum distillery is the oldest documented distillery in the world. The first Caribbean Rums apparently have originated in Barbados and have paved the way over time to the other Caribbean islands. Most Rum distilleries in Barbados gave up their business many years ago making Mount Gay very popular. Mount Gay Eclipse Rum is named after the double phenomenon of the total solar eclipse and the passage of Halleys Comet in 1910. Mount Gay Eclipse Rum is presented in an attractive slim modern oval-shaped bottle with a metal screw top. The label appropriately still conveys the message of a tradition.
For the production of the aromatic Rum only exclusively regionally farmed sugar cane is used. The molasses from the sugar cane processing is brought to fermentation with the aid of yeast. Once this process is finished, it goes to distillation and the firing process. For this purpose two traditional copper pot boilers are use, serving as faithful burning apparatus for several years. For the subsequent ripening process the distillates are filled into burnt Kentucky oak barrels in which bourbon whiskey was stored at about 60 degrees Celsius for two years. Once the ripening process is over, the Master Blender blends the various distillates with one another and can then present a proud, full-bodied Rum of premium class. Another feature of the production is that water is multiply filtered through sandstone, which is ensures that the purified water is particularly pure and soft. Over the years, the Mount Gay Eclipse Rum has become the flagship of the company, which is internationally popular and has enjoyed a number of international awards.
