Panamanian Rum is characterized by its rich content of sugarcane juice and molasses and is well known as for its irresistible sweetness, beautiful smoothness and Moorish creaminess. The Ron Abuelo 12 Year old Rum is a proper Rum.
The first sip of Ron Abuelo 12 Year old Rum lingers on the palate with fresh and intense flavours of vanilla, caramel and toffee, followed by flowery pinches and a hint of fresh tropical fruit.

The Ron Abuelo 12 Year old Rum is aged in the region between North and South America called Panama. This region is known for its superior profitability of prime 100% home grown and hand harvested sugarcane. This ensures that the product has consistency in taste. Fortunately, in 1936, Valera Hermanos decided to settle and establish his distillery in this fertile area. The Ron Abuelo 12 Year old Rum represents the most mature and premium offering of the Valera distillery.
Due to the different climatic conditions Valera uses the sugarcane in two ways. During the dry season (December to April) only freshly pressed sugarcane is used for the fermentation process. During the wetter months a mixture of freshly squeezed sugarcane and molasses is used for fermentation process. The alcohol is distilled and concentrated until it is blended for the twelve-year maturing process. This takes place in small old bourbon barrels from American white oak. The Solera method is used in which the rum passes through the various stages of solera instead.
