The soft long-lasting aftertaste of the XO Cognac Meukow is marked by strong chocolate and spicy leather that lingers pleasantly after consumption.
The emergence of the XO Cognac Meukow goes back to the year 1862 when the Russian Tsar Alexander II sent the two brothers Auguste-Christophe and Gustave Meukow from Silesia to France in order to obtain a large amount of high-quality Cognac for special occasions. However the brothers realized that French cognac distilleries could not meet this request. Thus the brothers Meukow decided to propose to the Russian Tsar to build their own Cognac distillery in France. The Tsar agreed and the brothers never returned to Russia again and spent their time setting up the family run house Meukow which still enjoys international success after all this time. For a long time the Tsar was the only customer of the Meukow brothers, but later they also supplied the House of Lords in London England with their precious Cognacs.
Today the products with the distinctive Puma logo are most popular and are even delivered to the White House in Washington USA. The family-run headquarters of the distillery which produces and markets these high quality Cognacs for 150 years is now in Matha - Charente Maritime, France. The house Meukow has taken smaller Cognac houses under their umbrella over time to solidify their market share in the top-end Cognac industry and is now the 5th largest Cognac house in the world, making great strides in Europe and Asia as well.
For the production of the award-winning XO Cognac Meukow only the finest grapes are used that are passed after the harvest in the fermentation. The subsequent distillation process traditionally takes place in the pot still method that the Cognac has to go through twice. Following distillation the noble XO Cognac Meukow is housed in high-quality outsourced oak barrels for about 25 years where it has enough time to develop its distinctive round and balanced taste and its mesmerizing red amber color.
The outstanding quality of the XO Cognac Meukow is additionally accompanied by a golden Puma logo on the front of the elegant and beautiful bottle. In 2004 the XO Cognac Meukow was awarded a silver medal at the International Vinalies Challenge in Paris. This luxury Cognac is quite pricey but well worth the spend and makes an unforgettable gift and is a must-have in a serious Cognac collection and in top-end establishments.
