Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey 1 Litre 40%

The Tullamore Dew is an Irish blended Whiskey that is renowned for its smooth and gentle complexity. It is triple distilled and triple blended. On the nose it is very fruity with notes of pears and green apples. The malted barley left a citrus aroma and the pot still content added a mellow spiciness. 

On the palate the Tullamore Dew starts off with a delectable sweetness from the grain Whiskey, which develops quickly into the citrus and apple flavours that already could be smelled. Furthermore, it shows spices, nutmeg and cinnamon and becomes slightly dry. To the end a vanilla aroma from the bourbon casks and a nutty marzipan aroma from the sherry casks are to be found. The finish lasts long and is still slightly dry with a subliminal bitterness. 

The Tullamore Dew is typical Irish Whiskey. The process of triple distillation results in a lighter and softer spirit because fewer parts of the fusel oils, which are responsible for certain flavours, remain in the liquid. Another important aspect of this dram is the triple blending. This product consists of three kinds of Whiskey: grain, malt and pot still Whiskey. Especially the pot still Whiskey has a great tradition in Ireland. For its production a mixture of malted and unmalted barley is processed. Thus, it is possible to receive unique flavours that can be combined perfectly with the other two types of Whiskey. 

The year 2014 has been an exceptional phase in the history of Tullamore Dew. After producing its whiskies in Midleton at a distillery that is run by Pernod Ricard, it finally returns to its own roots in Tullamore. The original distillery, which was used as a visitors centre since 2012, revived its production after six decades of pausing. 

The triple distilled and triple blended Tullamore Dew seems to satisfy the likings of Whiskey enthusiast as well as judges at international Whiskey competitions. In the following, a few achievements are listed.
