Glen Garioch Founders Reserve Single Malt Whisky 1 l

With more than 200 years of history the Glen Garioch Distillery is one of the oldest whisky producers not just in the Scottish Highlands but in whole Scotland.

The Glen Garioch Founder’s Reserve is a single malt that was created to celebrate this old tradition. It offers a pleasant, lively aroma of sweet vanilla, caramel, butterscotch and slight notes of pepper.

Furthermore, fruity notes of apple, pear and grapefruit are present as well. On the palate a mixture of sweet caramel, vanilla, butter cream and malted barley can be found. On the second sip fruity flavours of apple and citrus come through too. The finish is subtle, fresh and elegant and becomes slightly dry.

The Glen Garioch Founder’s Reserve is a non-chill filtered Highland Single Malt Whisky. Its name was chosen to remind of the founders of the Glen Garioch Distillery. The brother Alexander and John Manson built the company in 1797 and therefore it is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland.

They chose a place close to the town Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire. It is close to the district of Garioch, which is well-known for its fertile ground and had been called the granary of Aberdeen.

In the early days, the Manson brothers run a brewery at the distillery as well. The family was deeply integrated into the village as some members were merchants, tanners and vintners in Oldmeldrum. Over the years the Mansons gave the ownership of the company away gained it back in 1837. Since then the business had several owners and is run by Suntory today.

Together with the Glen Garioch 12 Year Old the Glen Garioch Founder’s Reserve is the main product of the distillery. It is a fantastic Scotch for sipping pure and the distillery recommends serving it with a comté or gruyère cheese.
