  • Black Hill Reserve
  • Malt aus Schottland

The Knockdhu Distillery is the creator of great Highland whiskies that are better known under the brand AnCnoc. The AnCnoc Black Hill Reserve is a fantastic single malt Scotch with a floral, sweet bouquet. Crisp citrus, vanilla, coconut, green apples and mild honey flush the air.

On the palate a full and rich flavour of apples and orange peels combine with sweet notes of vanilla and hints of spices. The finish has a good length and shows traces of chocolate.

The AnCnoc Black Hill Reserve aged in first fill ex-bourbon casks, which are made of American white oak. It is a non-chill filtered single malt that was originally launched for the travel retail in 2015.

The name Black Hill reminds on the distillery name Knockdhu because it means “Black Hill” in Gaelic. By the way, the whisky is sold as AnCnoc to prevent confusion with the Knockando Distillery.

John Morrison founded the Knockdhu Distillery on the Knock estate in 1894. But before the first spirit was produced, a lot of work had to be done. First of all, Morrison was searching for a convenient place and found this piece of land, where barley grew all around, the soil offered a lot of peat and the Great North Railway was nearby.

So the next challenge was to find a good source of clean water. The diligent businessman took many samples of different springs and sent them for analysis so that he could pick the best water source for his distillery.

After two years, Morrison provided for excellent conditions and built his company. Back then, it was known as a modern distillery due to its high standard and even today it has still a reputation of being somehow modern.

Even though the standard did not change much over the decades, Knockdhu is creating modern whiskies.
