The small village Ballindalloch in Scotland is probably primarily known for its famous distilleries, including the Glenfarclas distillery on the Recherlich farm. Glenfarclas means “Valley of the Green Grass” in Gaelic.

Robert Hay founded the Glenfarclas de calm in 1836. In 1844 he fortunately received the license to manufacture Whisky legally. In 1865 he sold his creation to John Grant who took over the distillery, modernized it and then extended it after 1896. The Grant family now in the 6th generation is still in the possession of the distillery and since then provide highest quality and the typical aroma of Glenfarclas. Just the use of natural ingredients help this Whisky to achieve absolute top quality.

Fortunately, as otherwise the joy of drinking this 18 year old Glenfarclas single Highland malt Whisky would have been kept from us.

Nowadays the company is called J & G Grant and is still using traditional distillation methods and copper stills. The unique character of the final product is also determined by the selected oak casks as well as the style and location of the warehouse that is housing the casks.

In the fresh aroma the single malt is encased by a hint of vanilla and honey, sultana and fresh lime. Overall a rather sweetish nose.

In the tasting of the rich and full-bodied 18 year old Glenfarclas single Highland malt Whisky, gourmets discover the strong taste of creamy honey. A sound of lemon and caramel, refined by dried fruit and plums, almonds and juicy apples also appears. 

The Glenfarclas 18 year old presents itself as a fresh, sweet single malt which makes the Speyside region universally beloved. Its finish is defined by a smooth and mild, almost endless finish. The color is barely like.

The over 175 year’s traditions, maturation in premium oak barrels, and the perfect natural and climatic conditions result is a very fine Whisky. The age on the bottle refers to the shortest time of maturation in the oak cask.
