This Scottish Auchentoshan American Oak Single Malt Whisky from the lowlands distillery near Glasgow was added to the range at the end of 2013. The Auchentoshan distillery is located in the west of Scotland on the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills, close to the northern bank of the Clyde River. The city based distillery was established in 1800 and was licensed as the Duntocher distillery in 1823 but was renamed in the 1830’s. The distillery is currently owned by Beam Suntory Inc. and is known to have walked away with several international awards.

Quite unusual for Scottish Whiskey, the Auchentoshan American Oak Single Malt Whisky is triple distilled and stored in first-fill Bourbon casks made from white American oak. As a result the bright gold colored Single Malt takes a particularly light and gentle character. The triple distillation is a special feature because the 3^rd process in the intermediate still aids in achieving an impressive alcohol content of 80 - 82%. This and the use of unpeated malt allows for an extra soft and delicate sweet flavor. According to studies a higher alcohol content has no influence on the ripening process of Whisky so the Single Malt is diluted on filling to 63.5%. The final alcohol content of Auchentoshan American Oak Whisky is 40%. The process is costly and takes time, but every drop is worth the investment.

Due to its complex distillation and storage in American white Oak Bourbon barrels, the Auchentoshan American Oak Single Malt Whisky is particularly soft and refreshingly smooth, and is a perfect Whisky for beginners.
