The Famous Grouse blended Scotch is one of the most popular blended whiskies in the world and the highest selling whisky in Scotland. It has a golden sheen and shines clear and bright. Its bouquet consists of oak from the casks, hints of toffee, some sherry, a bit barley and aromas of citrus fruits as well as dried blossoms. The body is not too heavy but still complex. The taste can be described as biscuits, a little smoke and a slight spiciness gathering around a malty core. To the end the whisky is becoming cleaner and a wee bit drier. The finish has a good medium length.

The production of the Famous Grouse started in 1897 when Matthew Gloag created a blended Scotch that was called The Grouse Brand. Quickly it became well-known in society and thus the name was changed to The Famous Grouse a few years later. Today the brand is owned by the Edrington Group and its home is the Glenturret Distillery in Crieff in the Scottish Highlands.

To assure the premium quality of the Famous Grouse, only the best grain whiskies and the finest single malts are married. The key ingredients are fresh water, barley, green malt, maize and of course the seasoned casks. Especially the European oak of the sherry casks and the American oak of the bourbon casks lead to a nice golden colour and the excellent and unique aromas. Part of the blend are among others the premium single malts from The Macallan and Highland Park.

Next to the Famous Grouse, the company is offering the Black Grouse, the Black Grouse Alpha Edition, the Snow Grouse, the Naked Grouse, the Famous Grouse 16 Year Old and the very special Famous Grouse 40 Year Old. All of these blended whiskies are produced by experts and show the highest quality standard.
