The exotic sunshine country of the Dominican Republic is home to the Ron Matusalem Clásico 10 year old Rum. The founders of the distillery are two Spanish brothers and a Cuban friend. All three of the gents joined forces in 1872 with their expert knowledge and enthusiastic work based on the traditional Solera method and went on to develop several Cuban secret recipes for the production of great spirits.

Matusalem was chosen as the name of the distillery in American oak barrels. The Solera Rum is in the bottom row barrels. The new, fresh and young Rum is replenished gradually from the upper barrel rows and mixes with the older distillates by the experienced master blenders who are direct decedents of the original founders of the Matusalem Distillery.

They are all deeply committed to continuing the centuries old art of Solera blending. Thus, the oldest of Matusalem Clásico 10 year old distillate Rum is 10 years old. The Dominican Republic is well-known for its high quality sugar cane yield due to the perfect soil and climate conditions in the tropical country.

In the early years such as 1881, 1904 and 1911, the companies 10 year old Rum had won several prestigious gold medals with the Matusalem Clásico. In 2003, the Rum was in the category of 40% vol. The Rum won first prize at the International Rum Festival.
