The mellow and fragrant Mount Gay XO Rum comes from the idyllic Caribbean island of Barbados. Little by little the distilleries have spread to the neighboring islands, also because most distilleries were forced to close in Barbados. Mount Gay is dubbed as the oldest working distillery in the world established in 1703 by two officers, Ensign Abel Gay and Lt William Gay and today the label still bears their name. Since the delicious Mount Gay XO Rum is the oldest fine specimen of the company, one could speak of the "elders of the ancients". The fantastic full bodied Mount Gay XO Rum is mainly distilled twice in pot stills and developed compared to the Mount Gay Eclipse Rum ensuring an even stronger flavor during its maturation phase of up to 10 years in oak barrels. The water that is used for the production of Mount Gay XO Rum is repeatedly filtered through sandstone to be as soft and pure as possible.

The bottle of the Mount Gay XO Rum is impressive but simple and humble and allows the Mount Gay XO Rum inside to shine. The wide round shouldered bottle has a cork top and this is the perfect addition to a Rum collection.

Several international awards decorate the excellent Mount Gay XO Rum. 2001 Rum at the International Spirits Challenge Award in London. In 2005 it won at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition Double Gold and three years later it got 95 out of 100 points from the Beverage Testing Institute. In addition, the Mount Gay XO Rum has been awarded five times with Gran gold on the Monde Selection in Brussels.
