The story of the wonderful Ron Millonario Solera Reserva Especial Rum 15 year old from Peru begins over 100 years ago in northern Peru where a group of farmers built a small refinery.  One of the farmer’s boys was sent to London the study Chemical engineering and from 1950 onwards the distillery was an extraordinary success thanks to hard work and tenacity.

In many parts of the country the Peruvian air is excellent and perfectly suited to the cultivation of sugarcane for excellent high-quality Rum. Its fine quality is due to the first-class and careful aging and maturation process.

First the sugar cane is cut into small pieces in order to be pressed. The ensuing molasses and sugarcane juice are brought to ferment with the help of yeast and the alcohol content increases immensely. In the next step the expectant Rum is distilled in an old Scottish column still in order to drive the alcoholic strength higher. Once this process is complete, the distillates are filled into oak barrels made of American white oak and Slovenian oak which are specially made by the distillery master coopers.

In order to develop an exquisite character and flavor the Rum ripens in a four-stage Solera method. For this purpose several rows of oak barrels are stacked. The recent distillates are in the top barrels and are gradually filled into the lower barrels to older distillates until the final perfection of the premium Millonario Ron Solera Reserva Especial Rum 15 year old is complete. This process contributes significantly to the aroma and flavor formation and after 15 years of aging the beautifully packaged Rum has reached its high quality.
