The aroma of the Pyrat XO Reserve Rum is characterized by a strong but sweet character. On the nose fruity notes of orange candied mandarin accompanied by a slight spiciness of cinnamon, vanilla and almonds delight the senses.

On the palate fruity shades like orange and vanilla are perceived. In leaving the dominant but not too intrusive sweet sounds remain a long time until finally a smooth velvety sensation remains. The molasses based Pyrat XO Reserve Rum comes from several regions of the beautiful Caribbean. For the production of this excellent sipping Rum various distillates are used.  The delightful Pyrat XO Reserve Rum is a product of Anguilla. Anguilla belonging to the UK and is most especially known as an island for luxury tourism and lobster.

The tropical climate allows for extensive cultivation of high-yield sugar cane, which is processed for the recovery of sugar and the by-product of the sugar production – molasses - is used for the production of Rum. A storage period of an average of 15 years makes this Rum into something very special. The Caribbean climate speeds up the aging and the result is the extreme taste of the ultra-smooth Rum.

The shiny, clean and amber colored Pyrat XO Reserve Rum was brought on the market some time ago by by the distiller Planters. Planters Rum was initially primarily very popular with sailors and pirates and so a few years later resulted in the name change to Pyrat Rum. The easy-drinking Pyrat XO Reserve Rum makes a nice mixing Rum. Try it in a favorite cocktail or mix it with a coke.

The Planters history goes back to the 1800s when an English sailor CJ Planter abandoned his ship for an unknown Caribbean island and fell in love with a cane grower’s daughter. He was treated like a son and got married to the beautiful girl. The cane grower died in a plantation fire and CJ Planter and the daughter inherited everything. CJ then built the islands 1st Rum factory and called his product Pyrat Rum.

The extraordinary Pyrat XO Reserve Rum has already received several awards. The Rum Howler blog allocated a result of 85 out of 100 points. In 2008 the Rum was awarded the gold medal at the "Ministry of Rum Tasting Competition". A year earlier the Pyrat XO Reserve Rum already received the silver medal.
