The family run and owned Distillery Boulard was founded in 1825 by Pierre-Auguste Boulard in the town of Coquainvilliers and markets exquisite spirits from France's Normandy region.

Currently the company is in the capable hands and is being led by the Managing Director Vincent Boulard. The distillery owns over 150 acres of orchards with more than 35000 apple trees.

In preparing the sought-after brandies the distillery relies on various distillates based on cider from more than 200 known apple varieties, all of which are matured over a period of 8 to 15 years in oak casks where it will pick up its special color and tannins. The Boulard Calvados XO has evolved over the years to the company's flagship beverage and has met with many experts in great popularity.

With a lot of knowledge, experience and patience the blended apple brandy is produced. A particularly important role is played by the winemaker. He is responsible for the perfect blending and is not satisfied until the best distillates are available. The rarity of Boulard Calvados XO makes it a very coveted product under Brandy lovers.

The quality of the award-winning Boulard XO is widely appreciated. In 2011 the Boulard Calvados XO won the Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

One year later it was awarded with the double gold medal and "Best Brandy" at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

In 2014 the Calvados was once again awarded with the Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
