Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 1 l

The Four Roses was founded by Paul Jones in 1884 in the historic Whiskey Row and trademarked the name in 1888. 

The Georgia-born Jones fell for a southern beauty who accepted his marriage proposal while she was wearing a four rose corsage at a popular ball. 

One of the legends go that Jones then devoted the name to his Kentucky Bourbon. The brand changed hand numerous times over the years, surviving two world wars, the great depression, the prohibition and 40 years of exile from the USA. These days the brand is owned by the Japanese company Kirin Brewery and Brent Elliot is the master distiller for this historical Four Roses spirit.

On the nose the award-winning Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon offers a pleasant, light fruity sweetness, which is due to the honey that is used. Despite its sweetness a certain spice shows itself.

In the taste, which defines the well-balanced Four Roses Kentucky straight Bourbon, notes of malt, manuka honey and vanilla, coupled with mature fruit, more precisely apples and pears are expressed. An aroma of corn and rye are added as well as a light touch of toasty oak that reminds one of wood varnish. The flavor composition of Four Roses is entirely completed by floral notes. 

The finish of the Four Roses Kentucky straight Bourbon is velvety soft with a relatively long finish. Quality can be seen and can be tasted and this can be accounted for by the very extensive production. 

The color of the Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon is amber and the golden color shimmers through the rather atypical bourbon bottle, in which the four roses are engraved. Four roses also decorate the label on the bottle. The Four Roses is perfect for favorite mixed drinks, neat and on the rocks.

By way of distillation two different cereal mixtures are used that lead to a total of ten types of whiskey. The distillates are stored over a period of five to ten years in separate American white oak barrels and are only merged after completing their maturity phase to create the hand crafted Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon. 

The aging takes place in a one story warehouse in order to ensure that all barrels are in the same environment. Five different yeast varieties and of course the purest water is used in the Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon.

Numerous awards have been won, including the gold medal at the 2014 Denver International Spirits Competition.
