The full-flavored Dictador Solera Rum 20 year old is dominated neither by strong flavor strikes nor too fruity a nature. In the great finish the Rum is complex and has spicy-sweet flavors of cream, liquorice and wood that linger in the mouth for a long time. Newcomers enjoy the Dictador Solera Rum 20 year old as a starter Rum due to its gentle character and real Rum experts simply enjoy the Rum as a fine multi award-winning beverage.

This luxury Rum comes from the distillery Destileria Colombiana in Cartagena de Indias in the Caribbean which was founded in 1913. Its roots go all the way back to 1751 when a Spanish visionary came to Colombia in order to expand trade between the former colony and his homeland. His powers of persuasion and his motivated mind gave him the name "Dictador", which today serves as eponym for a premium Rum brand. Fresh sugar cane juice (Virgin Cane Honey) is the basis for fermentation in Column-Still and pot still plants.

The reason why virgin honey is used in production is quite interesting. Columbian policy has mandated that a percentage of vehicles must use bio fuel as a fuel source and molasses is a readily available source, hence the distilleries have easier access to fresh sugar cane juice.

In order to develop its distinctive character the Dictador Solera Rum 20 year old is matured in American bourbon oak barrels in the time-consuming Solera method. Not only the pre-used oak casks but also the excellent tropical climate conditions contribute significantly to fantastic flavor formation. Thus the oldest drops of Rum is up to 20 years old and has a significant impact on the taste and quality. The bottling of this gem is done under tight security and quality control in order to ensure all the secrets are contained in the bottle.

Quality pays off as in 2010 the Dictador Solera Rum 20 year old won the gold medal at the Miami Rum Renaissance Festival. Two years later the Rum has also received the double gold medal at the San Francisco Wine & Spirits Competition and the WSWA. From "Eye for Spirits" the Rum even got 10 out of 10 points in the overall standings.
