Larsen “the Cognac of Vikings” belongs to a relatively new high-quality Cognac brand which is made using traditional and treasured recipes

The special Larsen VS Cognac is distinguished by a very diverse character. Noble spices mingle with tangy fruit inspire with a gentle, lingering finish. Thus the delicious Larsen VS Cognac appears exceptionally ripe and is combined with typical tannic notes.

Larsen VS Cognac has been manufactured by a family concern since 1926 in Cognac, France. The Norwegian founder Jens Reidar Larsen was born in 1895 in Kristiansand and immigrated to France in 1919 after he was charmed by the small town Charente. In 1926 Larsen bought a Cognac company from his Norwegian countryman Joseph Gautier which is only slightly north of Bordeaux and is well known for fine eaux-de-vie (the spirits official full name). Larsen quickly advanced his knowledge of Cognac, as well as its preparation and ingredients. Larsen married a girl from Cognac and went on to produce two children who also joined the family business. Thanks to Larsen’s good business sense, today the Larsen distillery is one of the more recent of its kind but at the same time it represents an integral part of the market. In the 1960’s Larsen’s homeland Norway and Scandinavia quickly embraced his sophisticated Cognac making it a top seller in the area.

From the very beginning Larsen’s Cognacs present unique flavors of fruity grape. A particularly special distillation process ensures the distinctive characters of the Larsen Cognac. The wines used have to be distilled quickly and without sediments in order to maintain their fruity taste and to obtain only the finest eaux-de-vie. Only the best part is transferred to the tire in oak barrels and the exquisite Cognac is hand bottled in person by the Master Blender. The final quality presents a very careful blend of sophisticated Fins Bois (Fins Bois eaux-de-vies are characterized by their floral, fruity softness which adds good complexity and body to blends, but without the structure to age well as an exclusive cru blend) and rich Petite Champagne wines (Petite Champagne is a geographic zone of Cognac production of approximately 66,000 hectares, of which about 15,000 are dedicated to wines destined for Cognac. Petite Champagne is second in place after Grande Champagne in order of importance with similar characteristics to Grande Champagne).

Currently the Larsen Cognac is made by the third generation which is still following the traditional recipes of the deceased company's founder. The Larsen Cognacs are firstly recognized by their imaginative porcelain bottles hand decorated in 24 carat gold and luxury packaging and the labels are striking with a Viking ship which proudly adorns each bottle. This exquisite bottle makes the ideal gift for any Cognac enthusiast and is a must-have for any serious Cognac collection.
